I used to be a backend developer back in the day, with Java as my go-to language on a daily basis. Despite developing web applications, the industry always felt like an exciting new frontier. Although the basics were the same, the industry was totally different.

As time passed and I delved into various projects and companies, I encountered a plethora of JVM-based languages such as Groovy or Scala.

Transitioning to front-end development required me to deepen my understanding of JavaScript and its vast ecosystem. This journey provided me with a solid grasp of how the web operates, making it easier to adopt and leverage JavaScript libraries and frameworks like React, Solid, Vue, Angular, or the thrilling newcomer, Svelte.

I absolutely love CSS; it's been evolving in fascinating ways. Recent advancements in CSS are simply mind-blowing, and I've found myself fully embracing these innovations. Whenever possible, I prefer to craft my own CSS rather than relying on frameworks. While I'm familiar with Tailwind, it's not my go-to choice.

HTML is the cornerstone for all web developers. Crafting well-architected and semantically correct HTML can be challenging, but it's a cornerstone of my application design philosophy. This includes prioritizing accessibility, as I firmly believe that everyone should have equal access to the web, regardless of physical capabilities.

I also have junior-level experience with Rust, and I must say, I'm quite comfortable with it. It's my language of choice when working with WebAssembly, a realm that excites me to no end.

Frameworks

Diving into web technologies can be a vast and exhilarating journey, especially with several years of experience under your belt. In my Java days, Spring was my trusty companion, but I'm also well-versed in older constructs like JavaEE and JavaFX. Taking it a step further, I seamlessly integrate with Hibernate and JPA to connect my RDBMS.

Venturing into the realm of Big Data, I've delved into Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka. These technologies have opened up a world of possibilities and challenges that keep me on the edge of my seat.

On the front-end side, I've accumulated several years of experience with React, using it extensively in my daily work. However, when it comes to my personal projects, I'm drawn to the likes of Svelte, Solid, or Astro. Despite the allure of these frameworks, vanilla JavaScript and Web Components hold a special place in my heart. There's something deeply satisfying about crafting elegant solutions using the fundamentals of the Web Platform.

Another favorite of mine is working on 3D projects. This has led me to learn and use Three.js, which is a primary framework for building immersive web applications. These days, I cannot wait to get my hands dirty with WebGPU.

Editors

In the early days of my career, Eclipse was the go-to IDE for developing Java applications. Its robust features and extensive plugin ecosystem made it indispensable. However, as the industry evolved, IntelliJ emerged as a more advanced and powerful IDE, quickly becoming my preferred choice.

Transitioning to front-end development also meant a shift in my editor preferences. Enter VS Code - a versatile and feature-rich editor that captured my heart for a long time. Its ease of use, extensive ecosystem of extensions, and seamless integration with front-end tools made it the perfect companion for web development projects. Then the performance issues came with it.

However, my journey took an unexpected turn when I discovered the power of the Terminal and ventured into the world of Vim. At first, grappling with Vim's modal editing and cryptic commands was daunting, and I'll admit, I didn't even know how to exit Vim! But as I delved deeper, I began to appreciate its efficiency and versatility.

Today, NeoVim has become my editor of choice. Its modern take on Vim, combined with its extensibility and performance, makes it a joy to use. However, I'm too lazy to maintain my own configuration. Terminal

When it comes to terminal emulators, Alacritty stands out as my favorite. Despite being one of the oldest players in the game, Alacritty continues to impress with its performance and reliability.

As for the shell, Fish has won me over with its intuitive syntax highlighting, powerful auto-completion, and extensive set of features. Its user-friendly interface and modern approach to shell scripting make it a pleasure to work with. Reach my dotfiles

Browser

While Chrome may be the go-to browser for many in the web development community, I've remained loyal to Firefox. Additionally, I use Brave. In a landscape dominated by Chrome, I'm proud to stand by Firefox and Brave as my browsers of choice for browsing and development.

Operating system

Having spent a significant portion of my career on Windows, I eventually reached a breaking point with performance issues and made the switch to Linux a few years ago. It was a decision I haven't looked back on since. I use Arch btw. Its minimalist approach and rolling-release model align perfectly with my preferences, empowering me to customize my environment to suit my exact needs.

Fonts

As a font nerd, I take font selection seriously, and when it comes to programming fonts, I'm no exception. I've delved deep into the world of typography to find the perfect fonts for my coding adventures, and a few have emerged as my absolute favorites.

Hardware

Computer

Back in the day, LAN parties with friends were a highlight of my gaming adventures. One thing that always fueled our excitement was getting our hands on more advanced hardware to play cooler games. However, as time has passed, my understanding of hardware has become more basic. I no longer obsess over the latest VGA, CPU, or motherboard releases. Instead, I find myself content with the hardware provided by my company laptop. It may not be cutting-edge, but it gets the job done, allowing me to focus on what truly matters.

Pheripherals

When the COVID-19 pandemic forced us into remote work, I saw it as an opportunity to create the ultimate ergonomic workstation. With long hours spent in front of a computer, I wanted to ensure that my setup is comfortable for a long term.

That's when I stumbled upon the world of ergonomic keyboards, and I was instantly intrigued. After much research and deliberation, I decided to invest in a ZSA Moonlander. Its split design, customizable layout, and ergonomic features promised to revolutionize my typing experience. I crafted my layout to suit my preferences and workflow, optimizing efficiency while minimizing strain on my wrists and hands.

I also incorporated an old vertical mouse into my setup. Its ergonomic design helps to keep my wrist in a natural position, reducing discomfort and fatigue during long hours of use.
